The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is a premier national autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoE&F), Government of India in the field of teaching, training and research. The WII wishes to engage 10 research personnel [01- Senior Research Fellow (SRF); 07-Junior Research Fellows (JRFs) and 02- Technical Assistants (TAs)]  Technical Asst: 1  Qualification: Masters degree in Sociology/ Economics/ Mass Communication/ Anthropology and Psychology degree from a recognized University with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.  Desirable: Experience of conducting surveys and knowledge of computers.  JRF: 1  Qualification: Masters Degree in Zoology/ Forestry/Environmental Science/Wildlife Science/Biological Science/Life Science, with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University.  Desirable: Experience of working on captive animals.  JRF: 5  Qualification: Masters Degree in Wildlife Biology/ Zoology/Forestry/Veterinary Science/Life Science (excluding Biotechnology), with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University.  Desirable: Field research experience in Wildlife Science: experience in carnivore and ungulate survey, camera trapping, Distance sampling, basic knowledge of GIS and ecological data analysis software. Candidates with strong physical and mental abilities and a keen desire to carryout field work in the remote areas may apply.  Technical Asst: 1  Qualification: Masters degree in Wildlife Science/ Botany/Zoology/Forestry/Life Science (excluding Biotechnology)/Agriculture/ Environmental Sciences/Biological Sciences/Veterinary Science with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks from a recognized University.  Desirable: Prior experience in wildlife field research including radio-tracking of wild animals, vegetation quantification, and population estimation methods.  JRF: 1  Qualification: Masters Degree in Wildlife Biology/ Zoology/Forestry/Botany with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University.  Desirable: Field research experience in the Himalayan region; experience in the field of wildlife biology/sociology or park-people interface aspects/GIS. Ability to speak and understand Nepali language would be of advantage. Only candidates with strong physical and mental abilities and a keen desire to carryout arduous field work in the remote and rugged high altitudes of the Sikkim Himalaya under extreme cold or rainy conditions with minimal logistic support may apply. SRF: 1  Masters Degree in Life Sciences/Wildlife Science/Zoology with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University.  Desirable: Minimum one year research experience on ecological study on water birds.
